Yambina Market Data Workflow

Yambina Market Data Workflow provides a complete Enterprise Data Management solution. We take one or more 'end of day' or 'intraday' feeds from market data vendors such as Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters and FTIDC and process these into a single database per feed with data cleansing at a vendor feed level. These are then further processed to normalize and cleanse the data into the standard “Trusted Copy” schema based on the open database schema standard from FIX Protocol Limited and FISD – www.mddl.org.

This use of a standard open schema design for the central "Trusted Copy" means that you can walk away from Yambina with your data and your schema intact, you are not tied down to a proprietary schema design. Being tied to a proprietary schema design means that when you wish to stop using your Enterprise Data Management software vendor, you have to effectively start from scratch again, as the database model it theirs not yours. In addition this schema design is tracking and integrating data model changes from FIX , 20022 and the new XBRL corporate actions messages mandated for reporting by DTCC in the US in a few years time. Importantly, to accommodate the frequent changes applied by vendors, Yambina maintains the data schemas for each vendor feed and automatically raises any data issues detected with the market data vendor. Clients thus benefit from significant cost savings by eliminating the need for developers to create and maintain the feed handlers and schemas.

Once we have a set of data from one or more vendors we then process that data into the central “Trusted Copy” providing multi-source data cleansing. The result? Graded, reliable data that gives you confidence in the trustworthiness of individual prices, or other selected data, when used in the Security Master.

Yambina can also integrate with data reconciled from your Brokers to cleanse prices and corporate actions when supplied. As well as cleansing we can apply data event detection through our rules interface to your unique specification for custom notifications to interested parties. Data cleansing rules can be addressed by designated users in the Security Master via the exception queue, because some errors need human intervention.

The system can also provide complete data change audits to your specification.

Technology

• Yambina Market Data Workflow is based on the standards BPMN (XML Business Process Language) and XPDL (XML Process Definition Language) and uses a GUI-based BPMN designer and monitoring application combined with a web application for the data cleansing exception queue.

• Underlying the XPDL execution engine is a data transformation engine with a GUI drag and drop designer. The data transformations use a data cleansing interface and data event detection interface that allows multiple rules for every data transformation. Notifications and data sets from the rules can be delivered via the embedded Enterprise Service Bus in most over the wire formats.

• The platform uses Enterprise Java, enabling the server application and workflow GUI designer to run anywhere.
